In all the head-to-head leagues out there, the playoffs are starting up now and you may have had the dismay of losing your first-round pick in the last week (Tim Duncan or Andrei Kirilenko, for example). With them either headed for the DL or the waiver wire, you are going to have to replace them on your roster. Although it is probably not possible to replace them completely, you can find someone to put up some decent numbers for you in the most critical period of the season.
With Andrei Kirilenko going down with a season-ending freak wrist injury as well as Carlos Boozer still MIA for about a month, Matt Harpring will be asked to carry a lot of the scoring load for the Jazz. He was averaging about 13 points prior to Kirilenko’s injury as well as about six rebounds. He has been coming on of late, and with Kirilenko sidelined for the remainder of the season, the sky is the limit for Harpring. In the game where Kirilenko suffered his injury, Harpring finished with 18 points, four rebounds, six assists, and a steal. These numbers should not be out of the question for the rest of the season, and even a higher point total is possible as well. Also, look to see if Mehmet Okur can earn his near-max contract for the remainder of the season, as he will see much-increased playing time.
Another sleeper, probably getting back to his lineup at the beginning of Championship week in head-to-head leagues, is Devin Brown. With Tim Duncan missing all but two minutes of the last two games, Devin Brown stepped up to average 20 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.5 three-pointers. Keep an eye on him and his injury if you are fortunate to make it to the championship round.
Stay tuned throughout the fantasy playoffs for more sleepers to help you stay alive when it really counts!
