I'd really appreciate the cafe's help. My league commish has added a bunch of new categories to change things up this season. What effect do you think they'll have? It's a roto league.
What he's done is separate rebounds into OREB and DREB, add field goals made, and put in assist-to-turnover ratio.
So our categories are now FGM, PTS, FG%, FT%, 3PTM, OREB, DREB, AST, ST, BLK, TO, and A/T.
Seems to me some of the effects will be:
No single category is as important any more -- because there are so many of them. Having crappy FT% shooters probably hurts less because you can make up the points in more categories than before.
We're basically counting scoring twice (with field goals made)... so scorers may be a little more valuable.
Similarly, high turnovers now hurts two categories, and assists helps two cats. So PGs with low TOs (and/or a ton of assists) are a must.
There are some random OREB leaders, like Dampier and Chandler and Pachulia. They're all more valuable... as long as they don't also have bad AST/TO, or bad scoring.
Any other ideas on strategy, or on players?
