I briefly thought about going with a couple other players due to age. Unless he was traded, it was but a momentary consideration. Marion FTW, just too bad I don't get to pick again until 22 picks later but I can live with that.

Brand

Postby Netsfan5 » Sat Aug 04, 2007 7:07 am

Would anyone object to Mafia retaking his pick. I feel horrible that probably an hour after his pick the news came out. Plus with the fact of this being a new keeper, I would lose motivation for this coming season knowing this news. I want to keep Mafia here and motivated and feel this would be a horrible beginning of the draft. Plus, this makes the competition start at 11, as it would be difficult for Mafia to compete without a 1st rounder.

So as of now, Mafia, please remake your 1st round pick. I will give you time before I make my 2nd round pick.

I feel this is the best decision for the league, to keep it competitive with 12 managers and not start on such a bad note.

How will this ruling effect future injuries. I do feel really bad, but what happens if someone else's first rounder gets injured before the season starts and after the first couple rounds of the draft. I'm not opposed to your ruling, just wondering how it could be applied in the future in a fair way.

On second thought, no I don't mind. But I don't know that we should allow him to completely redo his pick. Maybe allow him an "extra roster spot", allowing him to keep Brand on waivers until healthy. It's not liek Brand is gonna be out forever. His timetabel is 6 months. The season doesn't start for 3 months.

As we certanily know from last year, injuries can be expected, so I'm also wondering how this decision affects future injuries. Since it is a keeper, I would be in agreement to go with a rule stating that:

"If your first round pick gets injured with the diagnosis that he will miss 6 months+, you may keep him reserved on waivers until you choose and use his roster spot for another player."

I think that should create an exception, which is reasonably deserved, with minimal impact to the rest of the league.

It is a Keeper League and yes he will miss most if not all of this season but I should have him next year and on I hope. It would set a bad precident to let me re-pick I think.

I´ll take it on the chin and suck it up! I think it is best for the league.

I´ll stay active and just may win this league! Last year I had Lewis and Paul when they both went down with injury. I dropped to 11th position at the All-star break before storming back to win a very tight league!

Let the draft continue.

It's admirable that you didn't take any considerations on this. I'm in the same boat as you in another roto keeper league...sucks...but other guys will get hurt too and hopefully holding Brand proves worth it for future years, if not the last part of this year.
