What is Yahoo "O Rank" and "Rank"?

Postby Petrocelli » Tue Sep 25, 2007 12:10 am

My league is moving to Yahoo. I am unfamiliar with the Yahoo "O Rank" and "Rank"? Can anyone explain what they are and the differences between them?

Thanks in advance.

O-Rank is Yahoo!'s rankings of players at the beginning of the season. It may be changed once or twice during the season (mostly to accomodate injuries), but it's generally pretty constant throughout. Rank is Yahoo!'s determination of how players are actually performing, and is updated constantly throughout the season. Both are based on standard 9 categories. As to their accuracy, strides have been taken in recent years to improve them, but the consensus is still that they are inferior to basketballmonster for determining value.

Thanks for your response.

We previously used Sportsline, which had rankings which are bizarre. The Yahoo rankings don't look all that bad to me, although I agree that BBM is much better.
