Breaking Down the Shooting Guards

Breaking Down the Shooting Guards

Postby Arlo on Mon Jan 24, 2005 10:38 pm

We weren't planning on adding articles to the Basketball Cafe quite yet, but some opportunities are just too good to pass up. When we saw that Jamey Feuer, whose analysis is familiar to many from the football side, had written not just one excellent piece, but an entire series breaking down the NBA position by position from a fantasy perspective, we knew we had to find a way to get it out to hoops fans.

Without further ado, here's the Basketball Cafe's very first article. Enjoy! ;-D

The url ( http://www.fantasybasketballcafe.com/ti ... guards.php ) seems right, but yea, it just shows the home page. It doesn't redirect though :-?

Try it now.

(Sorry, jumped the gun on that link - the Point of View section as a whole is still being set up.)

Yup, it's working fine now. B-)

Solid article Jamie Feuer (who ever you may be :-?). I like the general rankings, though I assume you didn't encorporate the injuries to Hughes and Kobe.

A few things to comment on (not critical, just comments):

Q-Rich belongs more in the "on the way down" catagory since his %'s are horrendous, and his 3's aren't even that great. And IMO, he should be replaced with Manu Ginobili.

And IMO, Jim Jackson deserves to be on the "on the way down" list ;-)

Also, maybe Redd deserves to be put one catagory ahead. I value him much more than a guy like Gordon or RIP. JMO

I can name about 25 players who who are borderline SG, but also play other positions. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, and I hope they'll be in your PG or SF article. Overall, solid article ;-D

Nice article, I agree that Michael Redd should be upgraded, but on the whole it was a very good read.

Congrats on writing the 1st ever FBBC article and I'm looking forward to the centres edition.

For on the way down, I don't think Rose is going down the whole. From what I have seen he has been putting up some good numbers. :-?

RE" My Shooting Guard Article

Postby jameeman on Tue Jan 25, 2005 3:53 pm

Hey All-

I am this Jamey Fellow : )~ ... I'm pleased that the piece has been so well received. I want the articles to generate converation and whenever possible, provide fantasy assistance.

Now this piece, and the others, were written some 3 weeks ago. This SG article was changed only with regard to injuries and stats. Much has changed in the Association over that time. The Lakers are playing better Basketball without Kobe b/c they aren't constantly under pressure to feed him the ball, Odom's stepped up, and most significantly... they are playing as a team. Manu blew up for 46 and SHOULD have been listed. Ben Gordon's a far better 6th man than starter, his shooting % is abyssmal and his numbers are all over the board. But, I respectfully disagree about Michael Redd being moved up a slot. Redd's erratic. Shooting 44%, he posted 14 & 13 points over his past couple... 3 games ago he went for 30 and scored over 20 points in the 4 games before that, but before THAT he recorded 10. Redd's rather streaky. He'll put up 12-18 points for 3 straight games, then go off for 3 or 4 games. He'll drop 4 treys'... then won't drop any. His rebounding is weak, his assists virtually non-existant, and he records less than 1 Steal per game. To his credit tho, he doesn't record many turnovers. For my taste, Redd must develop greater consistency.

I hope you enjoy the upcoming pieces and I'm always interested in receiving feedback thru the Cafe'.[/u][/i]
