Rounders Block wrote:geodbear, can we get a clarification on the H2H standings again? From just a quick scan over the results you posted, Dutch had the exact same regular season record as cumulative season record. That's impossible because he had to have at least participated in 2 playoff matchups, meaning at least 18 W/L must have been added to his cumulative record.

Say a manager finished the regular season with a record of 100-89 (note that it must add up to 189 total W/L). He goes 5-4, 5-3-1, and 7-2 in his three playoff matchups. His cumulative record would then be 117-98-1.

Once you confirm them I'll go ahead and check the calculations to make sure they're right. ;-D

Whoops, posted the cumulative record by mistake for the regular season. The percentages should be right. I've fixed the original post.
Yes, Warriors sold at last!

Interesting. Not sure we've got a rule for First Division Roto ties. Thoughts?

Seems like both guys should get an invite to the upper league even if that makes an odd number. Someone usually drops out anyway, but I think bokzg needs a guaranteed spot even if nobody does. Bokzg, was there some reason you broke the tie in favor of Thrill, other than it being the gentlemanly thing to do?

Wow. WOW! Unbefreakinglievable. What an incredible finish. This thing went down to the last games. SC jumped from potentially not making the top 6 to 4th overall ON THE FINAL NIGHT OF THE SEASON. 'Tizy was fixin to slip away with the overall win on a huge late season H2H run but was punished on the roto side ON THE FINAL NIGHT OF THE SEASON by the cruel, cruel fantasy gods.

The 2007-2008 fantasy gods thus smiled on Geodbear, with his "Punt FT% Punt TO" strategy. Champion of the Champion's League. Two years of effort. It was a slugfest. A battle of attrition.

Personally, it was exhausting lugging Hinrich around on both teams like a heavy lead weight. Could not be happier to have that mangy 3rd round pick finally off my hands and survive to fight another day.

Congrats to Geodbear, to all who stayed with it to the bitter end, and those in all 3 leagues who battled into next year's Octagon. ;-D

Gentlemen, we have an Octagon champion

Geodbear. At long last, a Cafe member has earned the right to use the phrase "It's all about the bling though, ain't it?" I trust Geodbear will use it well. I can only wish I had that right. Imagine the possibilities with a certain poster formerly known as Molsitani.

To wit:
Prizes:
The winner of the Champions League each year will receive his choice of: (i) right to wear an exact duplicate of the Championship ring awarded to the NBA champs the year you win (must buy ring yourself); (ii) a diamond-encrusted clock necklace with oversized 18-carat gold-plated chain presented to you in person by recording artist Flava Flav (yeahhh boiii); or (iii) the permanent right to say to anybody in the Cafe who ever dares question your fantasy or NBA knowledge the following: "It's all about the bling though, ain't it?"

Thus Geodbear can get him a:

or kick it old school with:
Image

or just take the hoops bling:

Oh, and by the way...

Annual Redistribution of Managers:

4.1 Year 2 and after, (i) the Top 6 finishers in Champions League retain their place the following year, the Lower 6 drop into the First Division leagues; and (ii) the Top 3 finishers in each First Division league are invited to join the Champions League the following year.

4.2 The bottom 9 finishers of each First Division league remain in the same league they were in the previous year. The bottom 6 of the previous year's Champions League will be distributed amongst the First Division H2H and First Division Roto based on their order of finish in the Champions league. For example, the 7th place finisher will reserve the first choice of which First Division league he wishes to join, while the last place finisher will fill in the remaining empty spot in whichever First Division league has not been filled yet.

4.3 The Executive Committee reserves right after any season to withhold an invitation for the following year to any manager who is either (i) consistently verbally abusive (standard trash talk is fine), (ii) found to have cheated; or (iii) finishes in the Bottom 4 of a league due to quitting the league or a lack of fantasy hoops knowledge.

Asked him the exact same question earlier today on AIM but didn't get a response. bokzg and Thrill both deserve a spot and I'm all for that. If the worst case comes up where we have to decide, we're going to have a bit of a problem...

To be completely honest, I had a very busy day at work today and just copy-pasted the standings without looking very carefully. I saw Thrill listed third and assumed that he outscored me, completely missing the fact that we actually tied :*)

I'd obviously like for both of us to be in the Champions League if possible, but I won't make a fuss about it. I figure we'll just wait and see if someone drops out, and figure something out if nobody does.
