I was deciding between OJ Mayo and Eric Gordon for a SG, and I choose Gordon for a few reasons. I know Hollins has made it known that he thinks Mayo is a bad defender, and thats why they made a trade for Ronnie Brewer midseason. Brewer got injured immediately, so he didnt effect Mayos stats until over those last 8 games. This year they signed Tony Allen, and hes a way better defender...so I feel like Mayos minutes might be cut down from 38 to about 30-32...which should be enough to effect him a bit.
As for Gordon, i was concerned about his ft%, but then again last season can be called a fluke year. He shot 83% in college, 85% his rookie year, and hes shooting above 80% in FIBA. Im assuming he gets back to the 80% range, and I also think that his solid play off the bench for Team USA should translate over to this season as well. Plus if Blake really is that good offensively in the post, it should open more opportunities for Gordon.
