This is why i prefer live drafts. Surprisingly the other leagues are much slower. :-*

Yeah, I prefer live drafts too, like speed chess, really focuses the mind. Nothing like being on the clock with your draft not going exactly as planned having to pull something out of your $%^*&^ in the final 10 seconds to get back on track. Unfortunately, there always at least one guy who couldn't make the time everyone else could make, one guy who's girlfriend needs to be rushed to the hospital for an appendectomy, and one guy who's internet connection goes out for 45 minutes during the draft and he gets an autopicked team from hell. We did one live draft in Year 1 of the Octagon and as far as I know that was the only one, and here we are in Year 5. I guess dudes want to get it "right" in this league and are willing to put up with a bit of slow messageboard drafting to avoid the messy results live drafts can cause. They are fun though, no doubt.

Well i feel sorry for your past experiences, but as for me i have been much more fortunate (or unfortuate, depending how u look at it) to be involved in several leagues where everyone attended the live draft and things went smoothly (mostly money leagues). As for your draft not going as planned, you should always have a backup plan prepared. Drafts usually dont go the way u want them to...thats just natural. I think being able to make a selection under pressure with the clock ticking makes things more interesting, and shows who can think on their feet faster.

I also do happen to play speed chess and im excellent at it :-) , so i happen to think quickly on my feet. I feel it gives me an advantage in live drafts, but i also have backup plans for when a player i want gets taken before me. Oh and also I dont know, but it seems to me that when money is on the line, everyone finds a way to attend a live draft (almost all the time). Sometimes i wish this wasnt the case so i can win money much easier by drafting a dominant team, but this hasnt been this case so far for me...everyone seems to show up. So apparently live drafts havent been fun for u (and probably for alotta people here), but they have been for me.

Sorry for the long wait today, was out of town for the weekend.

I'm also really liking how my team is shaping up.
