I really like my Octagon team. I decided to punt field goal percentage and blocks, and like what I have as a roster. Only guy I wanted and didn't get was jim sniped me on Rubio right in front of me.

Well, decided to give the old "D12" strategy one last try:

PG: Jrue Holiday (PG - PHI) (4.05)
SG: Gordon Hayward (G/F - UTA) (8.05)
G: Damian Lillard (PG - POR) (6.05)
SF: Andre Iguodala (G/F - DEN) (3.08)
PF: Blake Griffin (F/C - LAC) (2.05)
F: Kris Humphries (PF - BKN) (7.08)
C: Dwight Howard (C - LAL) (1.08)
C: Javale McGee (C - DEN) (5.08)
UTIL: George Hill (PG/SG - IND) (9.08)
UTIL: Kemba Walker (PG - CHA) (10.05)

BN: Gustavo Ayon (F/C - ORL) (11.08)
BN: Alonzo Gee (G/F - CLE) (12.05)
BN: DeMar DeRozan (G/F - TOR) (13.08)

I knew it was going to be rough early going, but I bet on the odds and got the payoff I was looking for. After starting off with Howard, I decided to jump a round on everyone ("pre-emptive strike" style!) and take Griffin in the 2nd. I took a chance, figuring no one else but the Josh Smith owner would even consider Rondo in the 3rd, and if that guy decided to go a different route, I could pick up Rondo there. Also figured that if I had done the opposite (taken Rondo in the 2nd), Blake would have been GONE - despite the poor FT shooting, he actually pairs up well with several other 1st round targets, including LBJ. My roll of the dice almost worked too, as Rondo went to DamnLies (the Smith owner) just one pick before me. My consolation? Andre Iguodala...nice! :-D

Almost shot myself in the foot, as Wall was the next obvious pick for me, just sitting there in the 4th, looking all pretty and stuff...thank goodness I happened to mention it to Buser as we were talking about the BOSF draft - otherwise, I'D be the one taking a bullet in the Wall! :-B

After that, it was all about filling the roster with guys who go against the grain. Iggy, Gee, Hayward, Walker all get REBs aside from what they would normally get at their respective positions. ASTs, same can be said for Iggy, Griffin, Hayward, and three or four more who are projected to get better than 2 per game. Aside from tanking FT%, I'm also in the hole in 3's, and just south of "meh" in TOs. My only real concern towards the end of the draft came down to PTS, as I look veeeery average there. But PTS are usually the easiest thing to pick up off the wire, and I'm not married to DeMar DeRozan at all. %-6

I'm really hoping guys like Ayon, Hayward and Gee will bring me the value everyone's been talking about so far this pre-season. And a couple of other guys I have are in contract years, which usually means more focus in putting up positive numbers (it's all about the paycheck, right? ;-D ).

I'm looking forward to this season and this league...now, if I can just keep my roto squad going in the right direction as well... :-b
