Lamar Odom dominated inside for the Lakers.

Odom has always given the Suns problems the last couple of years. There's no strong force inside to stop him. And the problem with Pau on the team now is, if you take away Odom, how do you stop Pau?

And Kobe in Game 1 is the reason guys like Raja Bell, Bruce Bowen, Doug Christie, Tayshaun Prince, Ron Artest, and Shane Battier are so valuable. For series like this. No, they can't completely stop him, but those six slow him down as well as most, and teams have carried defensive wing stoppers for this very reason. I'm not sure who on Phoenix's current roster you assign to Kobe and feel like he has a chance.

HIll and Dudley. They're not elite like Artest, but they're pretty solid. It's only going to slow Kobe down a little of course, esecially when he's dialed in, but every little bit helps.

They've both played well tonight but Suns still down 9 in the 4th quarter. Seems like Nash needs to play like an MVP in order for them to steal a win in LA. Obviously so far he hasn't. Channing Frye has been a solid disappointment thus far. :-t

On the flip side, Kobe just looks fantastic - his movement, decision-making and passion. When healthy, he's still the best player in the NBA hands down.

Yeah, I'd agree. I've always though that knocking Kobe off the 'best in the league' pedestle was premature. He's got way more of MJs ability to play through adversity and pain than LeBron has shown anyway, and it's that kind of ability that, to me, defines 'great' once the stats get to a certain level.

As far as the Suns go, they just seem sadly outmatched. This is the Lakers squad that I think we were all expecting to see from the start of the playoffs. In order for Phoenix to have a good shot the Lakers were going to have to continue to stumble a little, and Phoenix was going to have to play really well. So far that hasn't happened.

Nice to see the Suns come out and take this one. Amare did quite well and seemed aggressive throughout the game. The only problem is if any of the Lakers fourth quarter threes dropped, this one probably would not have been Phoenix's.

Nice win PHX! FINALLY a competitive NBA game where the outcome went the way I wanted. Seems like it's been over a month since this happened last!!!

Boy PHX dominated in the paint tonight. Tell you what RoLo was the stud behind the STUD Amare. Heck of a FT advantage tonight as well so they hopefully they don't need it next game. I'm hoping that this win sort of gets them over the hump and things now come easier. Props to the zone defense too - it took a lot of their favorite spots in the triangle away tonight and it was obvious the Lakers never adjusted.

Be nice if Frye decides to show up next game (probably gonna need it). Get the feeling that PHX has to play their butts off every night to just have a chance to win. Hopefully they do bring it.

Just heard Nash did break his nose. Figured that was what had happened when he keep on trying to twist it towards the finish of the game.

Frye finally made a shot! The Suns bench is doing it again! If the Suns can maintain a steady energy throughout the game, it'll be a series boys. ;-D

Anyone shocked that the Suns pretty simple zone has taken them entirely out of their game? Tell me again why so many coachless teams are interested in Phil Jackson? :-D
