PG: Mo Williams (4.3)
SG: Marcus Thornton (3.28)
SF: Andre Iguodala (2.3)
PF: Al Jefferson (1.28)
C: Hasheem Thabeet (5.28)

BN: Ramon Sessions (6.3)
BN: Martell Webster
BN: Anthony Tolliver

On paper, I am loving how my team is set up. Offensively, it makes me drool - solid options at 4 positons so far, and I would definitely push the pace a bit. Not Nellieball speed, but between 97 (Denver) and 95 (OKC) would be great. I would place emphasis on making the extra pass, since we will have three solid passers in Iggy, Mo Will, and Sessions.

Defensively, eh not as much, but depending on how Thabeet develops - next Mutombo?! and bringing in a strong defensive-minded coach like Skiles or Thibodeau to whip those players into shape will turn this team into an above-average defensive team.

Mo Williams (27 years old): A solid PG who has a great outside shot (~43% the last two seasons). Also an above average passer (26.8% career assist%, with career high of 35.4%) who should ease the playmaking burden on Igoudala. On this team, Mo Will will be the fourth option and will be relied on more for his passing than his scoring. We are not asking too much of him - space the floor, make the extra pass, and play hard. Hopefully this approach will reduce his tenacity to choke in the playoffs.

Projected Per 36: 16.5 points, 3.3 rebounds, 7.1 assists, 1.3 steals, 2.2 treys, 2.4 turnovers with 46% FG, 43% 3pt, 89% FT

Marcus Thornton (23 years old): Another outstanding shooter. His per-36 from his rookie season says it all - 20.3 pts, 4.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.3 treys, 1.1 steals, and an amazing 1.5 turnovers per game while shooting 45% - 37% - 81%. I love the fact he doesn't really hurt you anywhere and won't turn over the ball. He's still young and has time to develop his game. Some have mentioned he is a bit undersized at 6'4 with an average wingspan. To counter that I would ask Thornton to pack on some muscle and model his defense after Ron Artest - be physical with opposing shooters and make them work for their shot.

Projected Per 36: 21.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals, 2.4 treys, 1.4 turnovers with 47.5% FG, 39.7% 3pt, 82% FT

Andre Iguodala (26 years old): He is the glue of this team. As the primary defender, he will shut down the best player on opposing teams while doing a little bit everything else. His shooting is suspect, yes, but with Mo and Marcus on the outside, he can focus on slashing to the rim and pulling up for the occasional J. Over the last three years, Iggy boasts an assist% of 22.5% and should see this figure rise due to the offensive threats in Mo, Marcus, and Al Jeff. I expect either Mo and Iggy to alternate initiating the offense to give defenses different looks. I would cast Iggy in the mold of Pippen, a superb second banana to Al Jeff.

Projected Per 36: 18.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 2.1 steals, 1.2 treys, 0.8 blocks, 2.6 turnovers with 49.2% FG, 32.6% 3pt, 75% FT

Al Jefferson (25 years old): One of the few elite big man who can bring in a double-double on a nightly basis. He is the beast that keeps defense honest. Before he tore his ACL two years ago, he was putting on an All-Star-caliber season, averaging 23-11. Since then, he's been struggling to recover from his knee injury. I believe this is his year since his game is reliant on footwork and not athleticism. Despite his weakness at defense, he has made progress over the years and does a good job of controlling the defensive glass. I would have him model his game after Hakeem Olajuwon and Tim Duncan, both masters of footwork down low and to make a more consistent effort on two areas: defense and passing out of double teams.

Projected Per 36: 24.2 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.1 steals, 1.8 blocks, 2.1 turnovers, 51.2% FG, 73% FT

Hasheem Thabeet (23 years old): I already semi-regret this one, might have been way too early but thought someone else would have gambled on him before he reached me 60 picks later. The only defending bigs left were old foggies like Birdman and Haywood and I wanted to stay young and build a dynasty. I think it's too soon to write off Thabeet, as he's only 23 and does have the defensive talents to succeed - just needs to fill out his frame, become stronger / smarter, and not foul as much. His per-36 is already impressive, 8.5 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 3.6 blocks - granted that's with 6.6 fouls !+)

Offensively, I would not count on him too much since I already have four solid options with Al Jeff leading the way. His responsibilities would be to rebound, dunk, and defend (would actually have him help Al Jeff often, as I think his length and size will allow him to cheat off his man a little).

While reading various scouting report on Thabeet, one tip caught me eye - have Thabeet to play a ton of one-on-one. To truly defend the elite scorers in the post, you need to play against one every day - so in this case, I believe Al Jeff (plus plenty of coaching) can help bring Thabeet up to speed in the NBA.

You all will be in awe of my pick in a few years... or be laughing at me :-o

Projected Per 36: 11.2 points, 10.6 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.2 steals, 3.2 blocks, 2.1 turnovers, 58.2% FG, 71% FT

Ramon Sessions (24 years old): I wanted another playmaker and a slasher, and I've always been a fan of Sessions. I could have gone with another defender to help shore up the C spot since Thabeet is still raw, but decided to give my team some flexibility. Sessions would be the sixth man off the bench to give the offense a boost. Mo Will can easily slide over to SG (or grab a breather and have Marcus at SG - lots of flexibility) and allow Sessions to handle the ball. He's a master at the pick-and-rolls and will be able to find the cutter for a open layup. With Al Jeff and Iggy, he has two of the best options in the league, plus he can always kick the ball out to Mo / Marcus for an open three when he drives to the rim. No Kahn to hold him back! :-°

Projected Per 36: 15.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 8.6 assists, 1.6 steals, 2.6 turnovers, 46.2% FG, 80.3% FT
