Also, I guess we should discuss the topic of expansion but considering how difficult it was to find good replacement managers for this season I'm leaning towards shelving it yet again.
I don't mind going back to an active/inactive list, but the only thing that bothers me are the limitations. And not so much because I don't mind having limitations to keep managers from abusing the privilege, but more because it's one more thing we have to keep track of, either here on the forum, or in a spreadsheet or Google doc, or somewhere. At least the way it's set up now, we have one less thing to worry about.
If we did bring back the IL list, I'd rather it be just a straight up list like Yahoo used to have - if your player is hurt, he can go on the IL and you can pick up another player. If he's hurt but day to day, you can use a 7 day contract to replace him (or several). Maybe even allow for an exception to the 24 hour rule, where a manager can immediately resign a player to consecutive 7 day contracts as long as that player is replacing an injured player. If a player is hurt long term (like Joakim Noah for example), a manager could be allowed to sign one player to a min contract to replace him. Again, maybe we could make an exception when the hurt player comes back, and allow the manager to drop the "replacement" player without it affecting his cap. It would only be a min contract anyway, so it shouldn't be missed.
But regardless, I'd like to see it simplified if it does come back. Otherwise, I don't mind benching my injured players and going with what I have.
And as far as expansion goes, the only thing I see beneficial at this point in time is that it would mean some kind of re-draft, if I'm not mistaken? That would give some of us the chance to get in on the ground floor of things. Otherwise, I see no reason to expand at this point in time either.
I mean, could you just imagine if we were playing out the Cafe Reshuffle draft right now?
I'd be going nuts!
