Round 9

Postby Coast to Coast » Fri Sep 03, 2010 3:27 am

OK, for my icing on the cake, my pièce de résistance, I need a legitimate center...
...someone to match up soundly against the likes of Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum and others
...a big tough player in the middle that is strong on the boards...
...a good shot blocker (1.5 per game for career, 1.4 per game last season, 2.2 per 36 last season
...a strong rebounder (7.4 per game for career; 7.3 per game last season, 11.3 per 36 last season
... a great offensive rebounder (3 per game for career; 4 per 36 for career)
...possesses a great deal of self-confidence and won’t shy away from a challenge underneath from the biggest of centers
...someone that while no offensive beast by any stretch of the imagination, has an incredible four year average field goal percentage of 63% (2007), 64% (2008), 65% (2009)and 62% (2010) WOW 8-o

This dude is 6 foot 11, 265 lbs with broad shoulders and quick feet...

The Portland Trailblazers are very proud to add...

9.15 Erick Travez Dampier

Third party take on Dampier:

Offense: Extremely efficient on offensive end. Rarely gets plays called for him and has to get his opportunities from cuts and offensive boards. Uses his size and mobility to get very easy baskets around the rim. Sets very good screens and is always around the offensive boards. No longer demands the ball. Could very well lead the League in FG%, but probably won’t qualify. Has become the prototypical offensive role player for a team with numerous weapons. Does a great job of finishing at the rim. Doesn’t have to square to the rim to be productive. Can absorb contact and get to the line. Shoots a mediocre percentage from the stripe. Makes good decisions with the ball and isn’t afraid to pull it out to get a better look. Becoming very unselfish.

Defense: Essentially a specialist who is asked to be as dynamic as possible when in the game. Gives his best effort sometimes to neutralize an opponent’s best back to the basket threat. Great length makes him a good shot blocker in close. Quick enough to keep up with most centers, but can be beaten off the dribble by more explosive posts. Does a good job grabbing loose balls when they come his way. Sheer size and excellent hands makes him a great rebounder. Tends to commit quite a few fouls at the rim, but that’s really part of his job description.

Sounds like a perfect fit with team loaded with offensive weapons!! ;-D
