do i change league settings?

16 team yahoo league, 4 teams each division i am currently in 2nd place overall but 2nd in my division to overall leader, league settings are that only division winners make playoffs and one team leading a division is 6 games under .500, i am 22 games over .500 but am 9 games back because i am in the same division as the best team, should i change league settings to best overall record makes playoffs instead to ensure competitive balance?

it sucks for you, but changing such a vital rule without league consensus in the middle of the season is a big no go
