Final standings:
Code: Select all
1  Rocketlaunchers   117-98-1    .544
2  The Padawans      115-96-5    .544
3  BokZg             114-95-7    .544
4  Muddawgs          112-97-7    .535
5  Leon              112-98-6    .532
6  hi chi            109-100-7   .521
7  plonden           104-106-6   .495
8  UGK34             103-111-2   .481
9  Gravity Hurts     102-112-2   .477
10 spud_webb_04      100-112-4   .472
11 Timbaland         96-118-2    .449
12 So-Tex            85-126-5    .405

There was amazingly a 3-way tie between the top 3 in terms of win%. Yahoo has massmonic (Rocketlaunchers) as the winner due the most number of wins, but I'm not sure how the Octagon rules interpret this situation. It doesn't really matter in the end really though as all 3 are qualified to move into the Champions league next season.

Congrats to everyone on a great season :)

what a league, what a season, and what a last night where I was still 4th before last night!!

when I joined, I said: "cool, an offline draft with some more time to decide who to pick....."
sic...here was the result:
- no PG in the first 3 rounds... :-D
- 2 of the biggest FG% punt PG left to me... to go with Davis & Drummond... :-S
- my shooting guard in round 8 (no SF slot at that time for Martin)
- my SF at round 9 with Smith and his knees.....
My draft was odd.... :-B

I'm not 100% for the 10moves/week, but I used them all in the last week to overcome one more week without Davis.... :-[

looking forward to next year for another great great "double" fight !! ;-D

Anthony Davis (1.08) - C
Marc Gasol (2.05) - C
Paul Millsap (3.08) - PF
Kemba Walker (4.05) - PG
Brandon Jennings (5.08) - PG
Jeff Teague (6.05) - PG
Andre Drummond (7.08) - PF
Kevin Martin (8.05) - SG
JR Smith (9.08) - SF
Evan Turner (10.05) - SG/SF

Wow that was a lot of fun! LET’S DO THIS AGAIN.

First, congratulations to BokZg and nykos for their 1st place finishes. Well done guys.

Really, congratulations to all of the GMs as every week was a battle and an education. It was really fun of being an active participant in such an ultra-competitive league. Looking forward to getting together again next season and the seasons to come!

This is from the Octagon rules ...

I was hoping someone else would handle muquas' question but I'll take it on. H2H scoring by "categories not weeks" essentially means a manager gets more credit for winning a weekly match-up 7-2 than he does for winning 6-3, and 6-3 is better than 5-4 and, likewise, you're better off fighting hard for a 4-5 loss than just giving up and losing 1-8. The idea is to fight to win every category you possibly can get each week over the course of the entire season and, yes, it is the default way Yahoo H2H uses to rank teams prior to the H2H playoffs, by overall win/loss %% in every category every week. This does not preclude a manager from choosing to load up on certain categories but it does reward those managers who find a way to dominate in as many categories as possible.

Does not spell it out but implies that it is the default way Yahoo H2H ranks teams. And from Yahoo ...

Head-To-Head regular season tiebreakers for Fantasy Basketball
The criteria to break ties during the regular season, and at the end of the season when it is used to decide which teams makes it into the playoffs.
Ties during the regular season:
If a Head-to-Head matchup during the regular season ends in a tie, both teams receive a tie in the league standings. There is no tiebreaker in a regular season matchup.
Ties at the end of the regular season:
Two or more teams in a Head-to-Head League (no divisions) finish tied in the standings, the following system is used to break the tie:
1. Overall winning percentage.
2. Total Points (Head to Head - Points leagues only)
3. Highest winning percentage in the last week of the season.
4. Highest winning percentage in the second to last week of the season.
5. The comparison continues until the tie is broken or no more weeks remain to compare.
6. Random "coin flip."

We have never specifically addressed this issue before, as samo was referring just to playoff seeding when talking about the Yahoo! default. I'm not a believer in reducing a 24-week season to an arbitrary tiebreaker like "highest win % in the last week of the season", so I'm good declaring all three managers co-champions. Part of the reason we eliminated the H2H playoffs altogether was to emphasize how each of the 24 weeks is equally important, and going with the existing Yahoo! default tiebreaker totally goes against that. All three managers are equally deserving. ;-D

Well done Justin, you pretty much dominated this the whole year. Happy to keep my place for what'll be my 6th season in the Champions league although I'm yet to put together a decent effort in both leagues at the same time, always 2nd/3rd in one & in the bottom half of the other.

If enough people are short on time we could consider a one league Champions league but I guess that's something we can discuss a bit later.

Here are the results for the 1st Division Roto. It was a very interesting fight all season with numerous changes in the top 3 all season long.

From my perspective, the plan I put together on draft day ended up working. This was my first competitive fantasy league ever and I wasn't sure if a punting strategy would work. I didn't go into the draft thinking about it but I remember it came that way and I embraced it. I was able to put together the kind of roster you need to make a successful punt FT% roto strategy. To be honest, half-way through the season when I was like 7/8th place I didn't think I would make it!

Thanks to you all for a wonderful experience. I can't wait to play in the champions next season. :-)

Congratulations dragOn! That was a fantastic victory in a very competitive league. Well done! Congratulations also to Bar Fight! and DR Superb Team for their strong achievement and promotion. Over the year I have really enjoyed talking with Bar Fight! and DR Superb Team on the BBM forums (probably dragOn too, I don't know his BBM moniker) and I am really looking forward to our competition next season.
