That's a good question, to start Farouq is going into his 3rd year, not 4th, but that doesn't change much. Rookie contracts were always 3 years, but what I am not sure about is whether or not we had team options in what was our first draft. I believe for our first draft they were actually fully guaranteed 3 years, but I'm going to need some more voices on this.

I just had a look at a copy of the original rules and found this:

1st pick 4.5M 5M [5.5M 6M if team option is exercised]

2nd pick 4M 4.5M [5M 5.5M if team option is exercised]

3rd pick 3.5M 4M [4.5M 5M if team option is exercised]

4th pick 3M 3.5M [4M 4.5M if team option is exercised]

5th pick 2.5M 3M [3.5M 4M if team option is exercised]

6th-10th picks 2M 2.5M [3M 3.5M if team option is exercised]

11th-16th picks 1M 1.5M [2M 2.5M if team option is exercised]

2nd rounders 500k [500k 750k if team option is exercised]

So it looks like rookie contracts were 4 years originally. I think we just overode this last year. Also, it seems that we were always allowed to not excercise the team option on the last year of a rookie deal.

This I am certain of because I had a long convo with Kal about it: That 4th year actually represents the qualifying offer you had to offer the rookie to be guaranteed their matching rights. It was not actually part of the contract.

he's on the list of waived players- 2nd from the top. And the way I read things, his 1.5M for 2012/13 shouldn't count against dcdoorknob's cap.

I figured you guys must have been using that link or something, but as you notice the teams are FAR more updated then you last saw.

Reprogrammed spreadsheet. Really doesn't affect anyone here, but i like bragging. It makes everything from changing team names/owners and changing around the overall look of every page much much easier.
