BTW, I do like the RML concept for the future.
Most of my preseason rules reading/evaluation was in the RML.
And saying the up bid is only an extra 250K is short sighted.
Technically its a raise of 250K average. In reality, Over 3 seasons its 750K should you raise the min on a 3 year deal. Should an owner add another season to spread out the cost. The additional year could be additional millions in contracts.
not really short sighted. i'm perfectly aware that 250k can mean up to 1M total, but that can be spread out over 4 years in any way that cap increase % allows so it should still leave plenty of flexibility to gm. when you are planning ahead you have to know your goals and then come up with the best possible solution
goal: not allow time zone difference to decide who gets the player
solution: those who can't outbid can match. in nba you have teams matching other team's offers
goal: reduce the number of deadlocks as much as possible
solution: require teams to outbid whenever they can, only allow deadlock when there is no other way
goal: resolve deadlock with no randomness and in objective predictable way
solution: points system. in year one roto mini-league between deadlocked teams
