Example so people can see how it impacts bidding:

Suppose Frank has 65M in contracts, so he can only bid 250K.

I have 62M in contracts, why do I need minimums not to count?

Because if I offer a minimum now, it cuts how large I can make my next bid, while Frank at 250K has no reason not to bid 250K on anyone he wants. Frank in effect has access to more money than me, just because he spent it all earlier.

The proposal would fix this situation by applying all minimum contracts at the end of the auction, so both teams would have equal ability to pay players with money over the cap.

I agree with Fenris.

exactly. i had an exam and in the last few days i wasn't able to check in as often am i'm used to. in situations like those i hope others will step up. some people have been helping out and for that i'm grateful, but there is always a chance that mistakes will slip through and nobody can be blamed for it

but teams that can afford to outbid, have to outbid, so team that maxed out can match 250k offer, while team that didn't can't

I disagree. If the point is to level the playing field for minimum offers then any GM should be free to just match if they want to. Anyone with cash would be silly not to outbid by 100K if we're going with that provision though.

I wouldn't want to have to adjudicate a whole mess of matched minimum bids either of course. What I want is for players who spend their money 'first' not to have an unfair advantage, and if that's what it takes then I guess I just volunteered to help figure those out. A level playing field is essential.
