Re: 163. Nenad Krstic (BIDDING CLOSED) - DEBATE STILL OPEN

Postby Fenris-77 » Mon Oct 05, 2009 7:44 pm

Alright, we've had six managers in so far. We seem to have a consensus on 1,2 and 4. On question 3 we have one yes, and five no's. On question 5 we have 4 in favour of 10K and 2 for 50K. I'm going to switch to 10K and we have a near consensus there.

Everyone has had a chance to read this, and there's lot's of unanimous opinion further back specifically about not allowing capped min bids to win tiebreakers (which is a no vote to three, essentially), so I'm willing to call this a thread. If there had been any interest at all, besides Kal's, in allowing that to be the case I'd be all over leaving this open, but there wasn't, so I'm wondering if we've argued enough at this point?

Is anyone dead set on leaving this thread open until a certain number of new opinions is gathered? I'm just counting hanging chads here - someone help me out. :-D

Free agency baby. Same general idea, slightly different rules about matching and whatnot. As far as specifics, I propose that each GM be allowed nominate one player at a time and start a FA thread for that player that will function as a bid thread. That GM may not nominate another FA and start a thread until his previous FA thread is closed. GMs may bid on any FA's of course, That should keep the number of threads manageable and prevent a handful of GMs from monopolizing free agency. It also gives people a chance to get in that first min bid on the guy they want it on (mostly).

As far as min bids go I propose we go exactly like the draft (whatever we decide to do there) to prevent confusion. The rules about multiple min bids from capped teams may come into effect too. I'm ok using that mechanism there provided we do it right away - i.e. once the 12 hours has elapsed bidding closes and a mini-roto tourney is held using only the players on those GMs rosters at the time of close. The results of the MRT determine who gets the FA. I'm not sure exactly what Kal had in mind for rules there though.

I just bid 250 k for 2 years on Julian Wright. Can I do that? How much do I have to bid if I want to lock him up for 2 yeas?

You certainly can do that provided you have the cap space. - it's only the one year min bids that don't count against the cap. Unfortunately, because of the structure of what bids beat what, someone who bids a single year at 250K will have out bid you. Personally, I think a bid made with cap space should trump one made without - at least for the purposes of this initial auction, but that's not how the rules work.
