It has to be at least 40M if it's going to be a dollar figure. If someone is going to tell me I'm going to lose one of Granger or Bosh to an expansion draft I'll drop this league so fast it'll leave scorch marks.
RedHopeful wrote: Also, I personally would like to hold off on expansion for at least a year. Let's enjoy and get this league going the way we want it. In two years time, expansion would be easier considering how many FA's would become available.

Also a good idea. The FA class in two years would make things easier.

agreed 100%.

Frankly if we do decide to remove players from teams next year I may think about leaving, whether it be a number of players or a dollar figure. I drafted my team for balance, so number of players completely destroys any of that. I didn't over spend for anybody this year because I felt that the teams that do would have a hard time fielding a winning team in the first year, and the limited options of the second year would mean they would have trouble getting new players to compete in the second year as well. If it now means that they get to keep their good players at a lower price AND have a whole host of new FA's to choose from it is massively unfair to any of us GM's that didn't overspend at the start. Had I known it was going this way my entire drafting process would be completely different. My entire strategy would be destroyed in this case.

FYI commish. In Yahoo, Drew Gooden is not showing up on anybody's roster, not on the IL/IA. I believe Fenris won him though.

Kevin Love Breaks Hand

Postby coffeeman » Sat Oct 17, 2009 6:43 am

This doubly sucks.

I own him in this league

Alsp as a lifetime T-Wolves fan who watches all their games he was the best thing we
had going. I think he would've realized his goal of averaging a double-double.

If your in a deep league I would suggest picking up Ryan Hollins. If he can keep from fouling which he was unable to do tonight he is a nice source for blocks. :~( :~( :~(

There won't be a host of new FAs, all that might happen, and I'm against even this until after year 2, is that some players may be be taken in an expansion draft type scenario. The contracts aren't going to change either - although overall team salary will obviously.

I do understand what you're saying though. based on current contracts, league size, and expected performance I have a FA strategy, as do you. That does go out the window if we add players and teams have salary removed via the expansion draft. Like I said, this will have to be handled very delicately, if at all, or it's just going to piss people off and deep-six the league.

If it's going to be done at all I think it needs to be a dollar value along with a maximum number of players protected (say 5). The dollar amount, IMO, should probably be 45M or 50M, something in there. Plus any given team shouldn't ever have more than one player or perhaps two chosen to leave. One is what my gut says.

The actual NBA expansion draft allows for 8 protected players a team, not more than one selected per team, and the expansion teams drafting in the lottery. (in 1995 anyway, although that was only 2 teams).
