I support removing it. Simplify this monster whenever possible.

I agree with doing it after the rookie draft. Procedure being similar to the end of the auction (managers can nominate one guy each for bidding) works.

I am fine with allowing home team to match (and by matching, win). This is easy to understand, works well with FCFS bidding, and doesn't give anyone an unfair advantage.

I am here. Don't kick me out for not reading nine threads of you and Fenris arguing yet.

Re: auction strategy discussion

My strategy was to sign several guys who would be injured or suspended so I could end up actually playing James Posey and he puts up 1 rebound, 1 TO for an entire game. Awesome management there.

Whoops!

i'm not forcing anyone to argue in those threads, especially not you who have already done good deal of work last summer. me and fernis are trying to further improve rules in order to make league better for everyone and avoid any misunderstandings in the future. i do find it curious that nobody else has anything to say. none of those matters are trivial so i can assume one of 3 things. people don't care, don't check the forum or don't plan on being here beyond this year...

My post count says I'm here. :-D

It might look like a lot of argument and ill will in those threads, but its really not. Kal and I just disagree about some things and we're doing our best to make the fault lines clear.

yeah if i were to call fernis stubborn, unreasonable and illogical, which i would never do by the way, he would know that i'm just kidding :-D .

seriously though as fernis said, there's not an ounce of bad blood there. we are just trying to come up with the best solution. i would love to hear some additional opinions

FCFS is simple (which I like), but there are some lingering ugliness around offering max, full MLE, or min bids, since those are artificially capped. At that point some system to control the order of offers might be in order. Mostly for non-affiliated FAs, since those wouldn't have the home team tie break.

I could live with FCFS for any offers as long as home team can match, especially for anything below the max.

If we had to use a tie-breaker for max offers, we could keep it as simple as the team with the best finish last season gets priority, or my preference, just use an agreed upon randomizer for multiple teams who are willing to pay the max (when the home team doesn't match).
