Lord, are all Serbians this impatient? O:-)

Kal - give us a break. A lot of us are still riding the euphoric wave known as NBA opening week! ;-)

Ok ... so we make the pickups/drops ourselves with our IL players. I guess we also remind you in case the IL list fails to get updated?

Re: ***expansion***

1) do we hold it after year one, or after year two? after year 2
2) how many new teams do we accept? 2 or 4 depending on the number of qualified candidates
3) number of teams do we want to reach? debatable as long as quality of manager/league is maintained

I like the conversation going so far regarding protection for existing teams. I'm going to give this some serious thought over the weekend as right now I can't figure out a good balance.

Yeah...I'm also not seeing a really big need for this in the overall scheme of things...

So the Gm in question here can both address his most pressing FA in an order he wants to, but without limiting too much the ability of other GMs to target players form other teams that they want to bid on.

this might get a little messy with up to 32 players in the pool at the same time, but i like it. at this point we should all have enough experience with the auction to make it work

Agreed.

Definitely hold rookie draft first.

Re: auction strategy discussion

Pretty simple for me...like everyone I coveted a top dog but I guess I saw the importance of not going all out for 1 or 2 guys in a 16 team league (a much larger league - just the opposite). If you're not going to have a top dog, you've gotta go for a couple "can't miss young guys" and I feel I did that by nabbing Lopez and Bynum. After that, I went for value and my team started to take shape and continued to build around that. Gotta say I'm very pleased with how it all worked out. Got a guy who made 7 3's in his first game sitting on my IL list (in hindsight should have activated Gallo from start and sat down Jrich - but I didn't want to burn a valuable add/drop for what I thought wouldn't be all that necessary).

I don't think you understand just how much I dislike that rule - I think it's badly thought out and completely unbalanced. It's not fair or objective - it's arbitrary and ridiculous. I agree that the tie break system is arbitrary as well, but team success is a much better and fairer tie breaker than cap situation, and I'm not willing to take the easy road here when it means an unbalanced rule.

I'm in this boat as well. It's just not a solution in my opinion to give a capped out team any sort of "advantage".

Gonna give the tie-break situation some thought....
