Re: ***next year free agency***

Key Dates:

April 14—Regular season ends.

May 18—Draft lottery.

June 24—NBA draft.

Based on the suggestions.

We are going to wait 2 months plus before making a single free agency bid after the end of NBA regular season. Holy crap!!! 8-o

I am suggesting unrestricted free agency (URFA or UFA) period once the regular season ends. Close UFA a week or day before Rookie Draft.

Restricted Free Agency can start some time quickly after Rookie draft ends.

i'm open to all these options. not sure which way my vote will go. only thing that i feel strongly bout is not allowing one team to have more then 2 of its free agents in the pool at a time. doing our rookie draft few days after nba's is probably a good idea, because it's the slowest part of the season so we could use at least some fbb related activity

oh and we do have rookie scale for 2nd rounders too

Re: What is the purpose of "one week contracts"

Postby KalElen » Mon Nov 02, 2009 11:09 pm

it's not a big issue this year, but it will be in future. teams would be able to preserve cap space in stead of picking up players on guaranteed salary and then waiving them later. that way even teams over the cap can get under it through trades if they don't wase it on guaranteed deals that have to be waived

Despite there being 9 categories that we have to work with, I am sure many of us took specific strategies to focus on certain categories and it would seem flawed to introduce and all-encompassing 9 cat BBM valuation methodology for this purpose (I guess I could see arguments on both sides).

good argument

if you don't plan on letting home team match any offer add some points to home team in that points system. most players don't like to move around too much so that should count for something and every now and then a player who is actually loyal to his team does appear too

i think it would be best to post those along with offers to new players

I agree with that. Can home teams offer above max too?

Yeah, a hometeam bonus is fine by me. Especially as it might eliminate the need for a lot of restricted free agency rules.
