Red suggested using a blind waiver system with once weekly pickups for this league next year, and I must say that I'm behind the idea 100%. We don't seem to have a lot to talk about lately and I thought we could knock around some ideas about how to get this to work. I like the idea of doing Monday pickups, but any day would do. The real trick is getting a blind bidding system in place that is fair and equitable.
I had a couple of ideas on that front...
One, we could nominate maybe three guys, and blind bids go into them via PM, and they don't open those PMs until Monday morning, with bidding closing at midnight on Sunday (or whenever).
Two, we could set up a dummy email addy specifically for the blind bidding, and then give the three (or two) guys access to that email, which they don't check until Monday morning.
Three, we could try and enlist a third party to collect and then post the bidding results. I wouldn't want this job for a league I wasn't playing in, but maybe someone else does.
Beyond ideas about how the 'blind' part works, I think there needs to be something on the forum here as well. Perhaps people who are submitting a blind bid also need to announce that they will be bidding on the player in question. Nothing about the amounts, just that they'll be bidding. Some people might prefer a completely blind system, but I wonder if it might not be good to have some kind of public record of who bids on who. Essentially, someone opens a free agent thread the same way they did this year and anyone who wants to bid just posts and says "I'll be bidding", just without the dollar amounts.
In general, I think this would be a much better way to run the free agent draft as well. We could do a batch of FAs every two or three days and be done in lots of time and with a minimum of confusion.
Anyway, that's my rambling two cents.
