from the rules thread:
-team can't match other team's offer to unrestricted free agent, if it's able to outbid it. only situation where repeating existing offer is permitted is if team can't outbid a current offer under cap rules

so NGuy had to outbid me, because he was able to do so under the cap. if both teams can offer same maximum contract then a roto min-league decides which gm gets a player

so should iguodala be open to bidding again?

i wanted to bid on him a while back but found out he was won already...

sorry guys, i try to look at all new offers, but i can miss things same as everybody else. if you find invalid bid that i missed, feel free to pm me about it, or post about it on the board. i'll reopen Iggy bidding. last valid bid is the high bid and clock starts now

We do not have a season to reference for the Roto-Mini-League Rules. How can this rule be enforced for pre-season 1? You simply are the lead because the match bid supersedes the initial bid? Giving you "Tops" privilege. Weird. But Interesting. Nguys deeper pockets requires him to dole out more loot. Because he can and you cannot.

Secondly, Im very curious about the enforcement of the roto-mini-league in the future. Specifically how well received the concept will be. Time will tell.

Kal, have you had experience with the roto-mini-league in the past? Or did you conceive the concept on your own?

Yeah, I am not a big fan of matching bids particularly for this opening season. If you can't beat it, you can't beat it. I'm the one that initiated the bid, so that should give me priority. Just because you matched it, it doesn't mean you should get the player. He is not a restricted free agent. If this league is trying to imitate the real world, this does not. I agree that in the upcoming seasons, matching bids makes sense, due to the point being accumulated.

Roto-Mini-League would be done, based on last year stats(all rookies will be counted as average player, meaning their contributions in all cats will be equal to average contributions of all players taken up to that poin in draft). i came up with the mini-league solution myself, to break the ties during auction, because i couldn't think of a better solution. i'm aware that's it's far from perfect, but it is absolutely objective and avoids any randomness which are two most important factors for me. i'm always ready to listen to different ideas, but i gave this a lot of thought and couldn't come up with a better solution

rules state that you have to outbid if you can. so when my max is to match, logic is that i'm going all in while other gm can still outbid me so if he decides not to do it, it means i want the player more. this shouldn't be a big issue. providing you have cap space you need to add up to 250k to outbid. i don't expect there to be many ties this year

goal in this auction is not to bid first, but to bid most. we live in different parts of the world which shouldn't provide advantage to anybody. we have made auction rules that require teams to outbid prior offers, if possible, not because 1st bidder gets advantage that way, but because it is much easier to do it that way and prevent dead-lock issues. when the offer has to be matched (due to lack of cap space) 1st bidder gets no advantage for being 1st. if he is able to outbid he has to out bid because that is the primary rule
