Before we even get to tie breakers, we're competing on total contract value (not averages anymore).

So you offered him 40M, and everyone else offered 80M.

I presume from what's been said that $20m is the max per-year contract amount. What is the upper limit on contract years?

depends on how big the salary is. Umm...you should probably read the Draft rules.

I will be making a couple of changes based on feedback to the 1st draft, but that won't be one of them.

Ah ok sorry, I'd read the rules but missed that part. $20 million and 4 years are the limits then.

Did we ever rule on players who signed over seas (either in light of or despite the lockout)? I seem to recall a suggestion they don't count against cap until they have an active NBA contract, right? For example, Wilson Chandler is hoopin in China. Will I retain him on roster, though not on salary, until he signs with the NBA? If so, what would be the time table for me to correct the books if need be?

The decision is as long as you don't waive him, he doesn't count against the cap, and you retain your bird rights on him when he does return. When he returns, he will be classified as a restricted free agent as long as you keep him on your roster. you will have 7 days to correct the books.

so 3 yrs-50 Mil (16.66 avg) beats 2 years-40 Mil (20 avg)?
