Last in points category Should I be worried

Postby taijin on Tue Nov 15, 2005 12:37 am

This is my first time playing in a fantasy league and I am really enjoying it. The people on this forum have been really helpful and I am learning a lot about fantasy basketball. I've been able to more and more decisions on my own, and feel confiedent that I made the right choice, but since I lack experience some things are just way beyond me.

Im last in the points category and have made some a trade and a few pick ups to try and get more points over the past week, so these stats dont really reflect the changes I recently made. Im thinking I should wait it out and see how things go but I don't want to wait too long and build up a point deficit that I can't come back from. What is a big deficit? At which point shoud I start to worry, and start to think about making some drastic moves, like trying to trade for Iverson.

i don't think you have anything to worry about. your scoring should come around. for example, bobby simmons probably had a bad week. scoring is the easiest catergory to come back from. you can pick up people who will just score, a la, a demond mason. don't worry about it.

if its H2H you can think about punting it and trading like Eddie Jones for someone like a Gerald Wallace or Prince or that type player. If its roto I think it should turn around and you should atleast be decent

How many teams in the league? from what i see you have a ton of really good all around players, but i don't see one true 20 PPG guy. joe johnson is close but has never averaged more than 20 a game. Troy murphy can score 18 if things break right. Simmons is a solid player, but not a big time scorer.

You can compete in scoring without having a top 5 scorer, but without a top 20 scorer i think it may be time to punt the category. I really like the collection of players you have so you should have no problem competing even if you punt scoring.

PS- Screw you for being blessed with a healthy camby. I have had him for 3 years in a row and swore not to get him this year. Watch him play 75 games and be an allstar. ;-D

Yeah, just punt pts. I punted two cats in a roto league last year and still came in first...so it can totally be done.
