Some scattered thoughts. So there might be more bits and pieces but the Lakers basically get Howard for Bynum. Wow. The Magic really get not much of anything with Afflalo the best player they get and the a first from each team. I guess they get to dump JRich and maybe some other contracts, but really underwhelming - at least they don't get a "bad contract". Denver is solid in the wings with Iggy, Gallinari, and Chandler.
That's a pretty weak deal for Orlando. The Lakers landing Howard for Bynum is a great for them, but maybe not as good as Philly landing Bynum for Iggy and a 1st, which is stellar (if they retain him of course). Everyone else in the deal seems to get more out of it that Orlando does though, which is odd, and kinda sad for Orlando fans.
We know ORL was semi-screwed due to every team knowing they have to move an unhappy Howard. However, it would be interesting to know why they didn't just deal with Morey who likely would have given them much more return.
Hennigan was hired right before the draft and he's only 30, so given the timing and his lack of experience, he probably was hesitant to make deals around then (and who knows what support he would've had from ownership), which was probably the best time deal. And now, reports are that Hennigan didn't run the current deal.
Magic's final haul of players is really sad: Afflalo, Harrington, Harkless, Vucevic, McRoberts, and Eyenga. At least I can get tickets real cheap for Magic games should I choose to go. As it stands, Magic starting line up may be Nelson, Afflalo, Turkoglu, Davis, and Ayon/Vucevic (?).
ETA: The only player drafted in the lottery on the Magic's roster is J.J. Redick.
not to surprisring, but the Lakers are saying Dwight won't participate in Pre-season activities or games. And still no definite time-table on a return. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/lakers-howard-wont-ready-start-030902632--nba.html It sounds like his workouts are going fine, but the lack of a timetable would worry me some.

Yep. When enough doubt was raised about a month ago, I knew he wouldn't be on any of my teams. It was going to be a bit of bumpy transition anyways - going to a new team where he wasn't going to be the constant main focal point. Now the back issues are going to cost him precious court time in acclimating to a new offense and developing some chemistry. Potential managers should avoid the situation (unless he can be had at a discount) and instead be looking at his teammate - Pau Gasol.
