The thing is Ayon's not gonna make or break Orlando's season one way or the other. Did he have some nice Fantasy #'s last season? No doubt. But we can all acknowledge that Orlando front court situation was crowded and less than ideal fantasy wise. For now it's at least a little clearer and they can concentrate on developing Vucevic and Nicolson for the future..

What's the point here? Do I believe Vucevic or Nicholson are 10 year NBA mainstays? No. Ayon, regardless of ORL's longterm plans, isn't going to be lost in the relevance shuffle because of anyone who is currently ahead of him. For this upcoming season, he still has the best chance on returning positive value as any of his compatriots.

Ayon is battling Vucevic for a starting position. That is not a front office decision but rather Coach Vaughn's decision. Vucevic is 21 and making 1.5 million a year. In a rebuilding season, he will at the very least take away minutes from 27 year old Ayon. As will Harrington if he gets healthy and also Big Baby who looks to be the teams top player this year. (Never thought I would write those words.) Once Orlando was forced to play him in the only position which he can play, Center, he gave them about 16 pts & 9 rebounds a game. And in the playoffs he was better. Ayon is a good fit for a team with a short term window of opportunity to win right now. Orlando is not that kind of team this year.
