Bosh for Lillard

Postby Knighthammer » Wed Dec 19, 2012 2:06 pm

I have been trying to acquire bigs since the beginning of the season. Thru trades & FA's I have managed to hover in the "average" area on the BIG CATS. I am in 1st place by 2 games. I have been offered C. Bosh for my D. Lillard. I took Lillard with the 1st pick, Rd. 10, which is turning out to be an absolute steal! Have I set myself up well enough to compete week in, week out in the FG%, OREB, REB & BLK CATS or do I need Bosh?

You are heavily lacking in bigs. You need a quality PF/C like Bosh. I would definitely do it because you have a overload in PGs and not to mention Bosh has more value than Lillard

I'm not sure I totally agree with you. "heavily lacking in bigs" is a little strong. In the CATS I listed in my original post, I think all of my bigs are in the top 50 in each cat & some much better in certain cats. Bosh is a little better in REB but falls in the middle of my bigs on the other cats. Lillard is top 25 in all SMALLS CATS. I just don't know if Bosh is worth it. Bosh is a "name", my PF/C are not, but they do help.

By heavily lacking I mean you don't have a star big and Bosh would be one and compared to your PGs, your bigs are heavily lacking. Your PGs are top notch and you have 5 of them (Including Monta) On a lot of days your gonna have to start some over the others which in your case is not good since all your point guards are worthy of starts on a regular basis.

I'm still mulling this over. I really like Lillard. So far, this is how I stack up with the rest of the league:

FG% - 4th
FT% - 3rd
3PTM - 2nd (the Bosh owner is currently 1st)
PTS - 1st
OREB - 5th
REB - 6th
AST - 1st
ST - 2nd
BLK - 5th

So in a 10 team league, I'm above avg. in 6 cats, avg. in 2 cats & below avg. in 1 cat. If I make this trade, the weekly projections are:

FG% - +.005
FT% - no change
3PTM - -6.63
PTS - -8
OREB - +3.38
REB - +14.38
AST - -16.81
ST - -0.5
BLK - +1.75

The increase in REB is outstanding! The loss in AST is scary!!! :-o What else should I be looking at to help make my decision?

wait, no. taking bosh is a no-brainer here. lilliard has been great, but it just doesn't come anywhere close to adding up to bosh's value. the fact that this makes perfect sense for your team is just a bonus.

it also seems that your projections understate bosh's FG% impact by a lot.

lillard would be slightly enticing as a keeper, but you won't be able to keep him.

also being top-25 in "small cats" is not super impressive for a starting point guard getting heavy minutes.

Actually I could keep him. We add 1 keeper each year until we reach 4 then start over.

Any thoughts on trying to get Josh Smith from him as well by including J.J. Hickson & make it a 2 for 2? I realize that's buying low on Smith & selling really high on J.J. but he's had something like 6 double-doubles in a row.

yeah! good sell-high + buy-low candidates.

that's a pretty epic steal IMO if you can pull that off.
