Being a local bay area resident and an avid fan of the GSW, I must say that 'The Baby Mamba' has really impressed this season. He's been averaging nearly 27 points, 8 assists, 2 steals, and 4.1 treys since the all-star break on 49% shooting from the field. His numbers have been absolutely insane. But what is more impressive is the way that he's been able to achieve these numbers. It's not a big pounding the rock down low for high percentage shots. He's not overly athletic so he can't beat his players off the dribble and slash to the rim either. That limits his ability to dominate at the FT line where most other top scorers such as Durant and Harden facilitate most of their points. Most of Curry's scoring has come from his flat-out ability to shoot.
Whether it is coming off multiple down screens with Klay in the half-court set or just breaking down the defender with a series of quick dribbling exhibitions and stepping back into a 3-pointer, the way that he produces points in bunches is amazing to watch. Anyone who hasn't seen his ability to shoot off the dribble just do yourself a favor and watch his highlights on Youtube.
The fact that he's not an All-star really boggles my mind because what he's done this season is nothing short of amazing for the Warriors. Also considering that most people pegged the Dubs as not even having a chance of making the playoffs and Curry as a player who would have played less than 60 games this season.
I think if he can continue to make progress and improve, I can easily see him being a top 5 overall pick in the upcoming seasons.
