2013-2014 Offseason Transactions

Postby Fenris-77 » Mon Jun 03, 2013 2:33 pm

Waives, option pick ups or drops, all that stuff can go here.I'll get things rolling.

1. I'm declining the 3M option for Bismack Biyombo for this year.

2. I'm waiving Antawn Jamison's non-guaranteed salary for this year, dropping his cap hit from 1.25M to .31M

*edit*

3. Declining the .5M option on Will Barton for this season

I am waiving Austin Rivers (2.5/3), so 5.5*25%=1.375 cap hit this year and 0 next year right? Correct me if I am wrong, thanks.

It should be 0.25 x 2.5M = 0.63M cap hit. The 3rd year is a team option so you can effectively count him as an expiring this year.

This is a little screwy, because I'm not sure our wording is clear enough in the rule to define this, but I think since we're in the off season if you have an early termination option on a rookie that isn't the upcoming season and choose to waive him, then that TO year, whatever it is can be considered null and void.

That being said if you waive Rivers, I think his salary should be 75% of the 2013-2014 season salary because this isn't the final year of his rookie contract, its the second. To clarify,

Rivers was drafted in the 2012-2013 season at 1.08 which gives him the following contract 2M, 2.5M, [3M]. Last season his salary was this 2M and this season his salary would be 2.5M. If he's waived now, I think we can ignore his [3M] Team Option, but since it isn't a TO year you're waiving him, you'd be obligated to follow normal dropped player rules and salary cap hits. I believe it should be 2.5M * 75%= 1.88M that Rivers counts against your cap.

Since this was screwy you could take it back if you so choose.

Right you are Jim! Nice catch. I'll update the rules to reflect before we forget again.

Oh ok, I get it now. In that case I would like to take it back, not saving as much as I was hoping so might as well keep him on the team for now, I can always waive him later if I need that salary to sign a free agent right. Sorry, still tryijg to learn the rules, disregard this request, thanks.
