This is an illegal bid. The lowest you can increase or decrease is 10% of 24 which would be 26.2 or 21.6 ;-D

That's not what the rule says...at least, not the way I understand it.

I can increase or decrease a contract by no more than +/- 10% of the BYS (base year salary).

10% of 24 is 2.4, correct?. So a bid of (24, 23, 22, 21) is legal. Each decrement there is less than 2.4M. If I had wanted to, I could have made the bid (24, 21.6, 19.2, 16.8). but the the Total contract, "C" wouldn't have gone up the required .5M.

Math 101? :-S

And there it is for good measure, our first 100M contract.

I'm sleepy and combining too many things. :*) You are correct sir, though it doesn't appear to matter. It could have been 2.4 per subsequent year. I think the over 20M is throwing me off.

I think there should be a rule that if you spend 20+ million on a player you cannot quit the league under any circumstance except death for the length of the contract.

Either that, or there should be a rule banning the use of alcohol while making these bids. :-B

Note that I am not proposing this for discussion.

But I've sometimes wondered if the best way to get a well behaved keeper league is to play for non-trivial amounts of $$$. Either on a season basis or everybody has to buy a team and then if they leave the league needs to sell it someone else or they don't get their money back (kind of like real NBA). Or a little bit of both (one-time buy-in, find someone to buy team off you if you leave league, plus an annual buy-in and annual prizes.

I don't normally play for money, so not really my thing. But my keeper league experiences in the past (albeit limited) have been pretty unsatisfactory. So far this one is very good so am hoping it stays so!!
