Rookie Draft - 2013-14... pick #9...

Postby maestro1313 » Tue Aug 06, 2013 4:20 pm

12 Team h2h - stand with TO....

No concern of current roster...
Who would you take for short term?
Who would you take for longer term?

Talking a deal to move to #2... otherwise picking #9...
Thoughts about who to pick in either place or both?

Oladipo went #1 overall...

Thanks

I did get #3... (Gave up #9 and Percy Harvin for B. Bowe and #3 - Multi Sport League)

Very heavy PG... but can always move someone if Burke is the right pick, so have no issue with that.
Starting PG has value no matter what...

PG - Rondo/Lillard/Jennings/G. Hill/N. Robinson
SG - Harden/Gay
SF - Durant
PF - Jefferson/T. Young
C - Noah

rookie rights to:
Terrance Jones

I'd probably have Burke number three on my board, so that's who I'd take if I was going off value alone. With Noel's injury, if you did need to trade Burke or another PG, you'd have higher immediate value now then waiting for Noel.

Love Noel's upside, but I agree...
Maybe I'll be able to trade back in and get him... ;)
And, as always, thanks for the 'brilliance'...

Question on trading back in...
Would you move a first next year (better draft, pick will be 10/11 or 12 I'm guessing) and something small... for Noel's upside?
Or would you think the upside of next years draft is worth waiting on?

Not sure what something small is, but Noel scares the heck out of me. I think his upside is Emeka Okafor and his downside is absolute garbage. That being said, his perceived value is still high and he's substantially younger than Emeka when he came into the league which can be a good thing if he gets the right coaches.

I see more of Okafor and Ratliff than Anthony Davis or Dikembe for sure.

See... that's my fear.
I think I'm falling for the hype!
Thanks for the thoughts and the attempt to bring me back to earth.

Would turn out to be a bottom three pick next year and #21 our of 24 this year... to get him.
But for some reason... I am falling for his upside! :-o

I would still maybe make the deal. Your options are he probably has good trade value, or he out performs what most think. Even if he starts out slow, I think he's young enough that a few teams might still think, oh, he's got a chance to turn it around and mature. Look how long Beasley maintained fantasy value before people were finally like, oh, he's horrible. Even Derrick Williams still seems to have real life value despite not playing great. It could be a win win for you. Trying to figure out who will be available next season towards the end is sketchy too.
