West:
1. LA Clippers
2. San Antonio Spurs
3. Houston Rockets
4. Oklahoma City Thunder
5. Golden State Warriors
6. New Orleans Pelicans
7. Memphis Grizzlies
8. LA Lakers

East:
1. Miami Heat
2. Chicago Bulls
3. Brooklyn Nets
4. Indiana Pacers
5. New York Knicks
6. Detroit Pistons
7. Cleveland Cavaliers
8. Atlanta Hawks

The West is clearly the toughest. I could see Dallas, Portland, Minnesota, and possibly Denver fighting for the last few spots.

I'm terrible at these types of predictions, but here are mine for the heck of it:

West:
1. Clippers
2. Spurs
3. Thunder
4. Rockets
5. Warriors
6. Grizzlies
7. Mavs
8. Nuggets

Like many have said, the 7th and 8th seed are a crapshoot at this point. I think Carlisle and Dirk, with an improved supporting cast, is good enough to make it into the playoffs. They almost did it last season despite Dirk not playing or underperforming for a bulk of the season, and I like this year's roster more than last year's. The Nuggets, while losing Iggy, still has enough of their key players from last season for them to suffer a dip and still make the playoffs. I was tempted to list the Pellies, but they have a lot of new pieces, are relatively young and inexperienced, and will need to find a way to make Jrue, Gordon, and Tyreke work on the court.

East:
1. Bulls
2. Heat
3. Pacers
4. Nets
5. Knicks
6. Wizards
7. Pistons
8. Cavs

The 6th-8th seeds are a crapshoot in the East. I think the Wizards want to make it to the playoffs so badly that they'll find a way to squeeze in as long as they suffer no additional significant injuries. The Pistons are also going to be desperate to make the playoffs because Dumars needs to redeem himself, and they have enough talent and size to make them a tough matchup as long as they can get something from their guards. As much as I dislike the Cavs (due to Dan Gilbert), they have Kyrie and some up-and-coming players in Waiters and Thompson. They also have motivation to compete so they can convince Lebron to try to rejoin them in the future. Almost put the Raptors in there too, but I suspect that Ujiri will dump Gay for expiring contracts and/or picks as soon as he can so that he can reshape the team in his vision.

West:
1) Los Angeles Clippers
2) San Antonio Spurs
3) Oklahoma City Thunder
4) Golden State Warriors
5) Houston Rockets
6) Memphis Grizzlies
7) Dallas Mavericks
8) Portland Trail Blazers

Give me the veteran-laden Mavs and Blazers over the up-and-coming Wolves and Pelicans. Too much of the latter duo's success is reliant on health, and I just don't see it coming together this year. I'd buy the Nuggets sneaking in at the 8 seed if Karl was still there. Losing a number of key pieces and transitioning to a new coach makes me shy away.

East:
1) Miami Heat
2) Indiana Pacers
3) Chicago Bulls
4) Brooklyn Nets
5) New York Knicks
6) Detroit Pistons
7) Atlanta Hawks
8) Washington Wizards

Wouldn't be surprised if the Pacers overtake the Heat for the #1 seed. The Cavs look pretty good on paper now, but once those injuries almost assuredly hit, their frontcourt will be decimated. I'll be surprised if Bynum/Varejao can combine for more than 90 games, and Zeller is already hurt as is. Irving/Waiters/Jack/Miles has the makings of a solid backcourt, but they'll be leaning far too much on Bennett, Thompson, and Earl Clark for my liking.

You guys are all much higher on the Wiz than I am. I still don't think John Wall is going to grow by leaps and bounds and he's clearly an injury concern. Okafor is already out and obviously Nene is as per usual going to miss time and their bench isn't deep or that good.

I could see Toronto and Milwaukee finishing better and really only have the Wiz ranked in the 10-12 range.
