John Henson's Value???????

Postby kevinkallberg » Fri Jan 17, 2014 4:59 am

I'm in a 16 team, H2H dynasty league (keep everyone and have a 3 round draft every season where we basically drop one player to draft another)
Standard yahoo stats and positions

I'm in need of SG's and SF's on my team and I have plenty of big men.....D-Cousins, Monroe, Henson, Brandon Bass, Miles Plumlee, Byombo, Jason Smith, Andrew Nicholson and Alex Len.

I received a trade offer of....
I get Tim Hardaway Jr.
I trade away John Henson

I really like Henson's upside, and I honestly don't really know how good Hardaway Jr. is or is supposed to be in the future.

Looking for any insight and help....THANKS!!!!

Henson is nearly as young as Hardaway, and while I like Hardaway as a scorer, he's not worth Henson by himself.

If I were forced to grade them, I'd say Henson is a B+ keeper: a young C who can block shots. He's owned in all three of my leagues this year: 2 12-team keepers and 1 10-team redraft league. (Admittedly, I own him in all three leagues).

Hardaway feels more like a C+ keeper: several guards can look good in limited minutes but fail to score well (or defend well) against all competition with increased minutes. Still, he's got a nose for scoring, there's little doubt. I think he's owned in 1 of my 3 leagues, and I'm not racing to check in the other two.

I agree I much rather have Henson vs. T.H. JR. I am in a 14 team dynasty league and own Timmy jr. and would trade him in a second for Henson. An F/C who blocks and boards is just much more valuable than an SG who hits threes.

Thanks guys, that's what I was kinda thinking.

The player I do want from him is Giannis Antetokounmpo. He plays SG/SF which I covet but I'm not entirely sure about him as he's so young and obviously doesn't have much of a track record. I'd basically be buying into the hype and hope for a high ceiling.

What are your thoughts on Antetokounmpo?

Mr. Johnny Antetokounmpo
Mr. Giannis Tuttle.

Wait, um, you're here, you heard that whole thing? Um, nothing going on here.

All joking aside, I LOVE Giannis like a fat kid loves cake in a dynasty. Henson has a hint more trade value, so I would try to pry a hint more than just taking a 1 for 1, but I would support that as a deal.

You gotta like Henson here. He is a stud in the blocks cat already (a cat that can be won with one stud player) and he has shown he can put up big numbers with bench minutes. He's an exciting player to own and I say he's the guy here, no question.
